My radiators aren’t heating up at all..
If your radiators aren’t heating up at all, there might be an issue with either your boiler or central heating controls. it’s possible that you may be in need of a new boiler! However, there are a few basics to check before assuming that there is a major problem:
Check the room thermostat to see if it is set correctly. Depending on how your heating system is set up, there may be different room thermostats for different parts of your property. If this is the case, you’ll want to make sure that the thermostat controlling the cold radiators is set up properly
Check that the timer or programmer for your central heating system is working as it should.
My radiators aren’t heating up as they should..
If there are patches of your radiator that aren’t warming up to the same temperature as the rest of the radiator and these patches occur at the top of your radiator, it’s likely that there is a problem with the air in your central heating system. If this is the case, you can try bleeding the affected radiators in order to release air. Bleeding radiators isn’t something you’ll need to call a heating engineer for. Check online for easy how-to guides if you’re unsure how to go about doing this.
If there are cold patches on your radiator, but are towards the bottom of your radiator and not at the top, there may be a buildup of rust or sludge in your system. If this is the case, you may want to consider having a power flush from a qualified heating engineer. If radiators in a section of your house aren’t working as they should and the central heating controls are working as far as you aware, then the pump of your central heating system may not be working properly. Your boiler will heat up the radiators closest to it first, and if the radiators furthest away from the boiler are not heating up as much as the other radiators, you may need to partially tighten the valves on the radiators closest to the boiler.
If you are having issues with a specific radiator, it either being too hot or too cold, then try adjusting the valve on that radiator.
